Want to add challenge, variety, and adventure to your life
AND get paid to make a difference?
Become an Adjuster!

Every day there are images of homes and businesses that have been devastated by natural disasters. They stretch across the front pages of our newspapers, and the effects are broadcasted on news stations nationwide, describing the remains and rubble that have been left behind.

The images, emblazoned in our minds, serve as a constant reminder of how powerful hurricanes, blizzards, and fires truly are. They often leave us, the viewers, wishing there is a way we could help. Well, there is—become an adjuster.

What is an Adjuster?

Insurance covers many of the losses home or business owners experience during these disasters; however, adjusters are needed to determine claims in order to help people in the midst of natural crises and  help to restore their lives as quickly as possible.

Adjusters act much like agents on the television show CSI. However, instead of investigating the scene of a crime, adjusters investigate losses for property owners.

An Adjuster…

  • Investigates and determines the extent of damages
  • Locates and interviews witnesses
  • Corresponds with medical specialists and others
  • Analyzes data to determine payments
  • Negotiates a settlement for losses
  • Determines liabilities that may apply

OPPORTUNITIES

Working Independently

Compare The Cost & earnings of a Career ChangeAs an independent contractor, the amount of money you make will be
determined by how often you take ajob—unfortunately, there is always work to be done as long as Mother Nature is fulfilling her seasonal duties.  An independent adjuster has the freedom of flexibility. They may choose to work full-time, or part-time, depending on other commitments that they may already have. You can earn commission on a percentage of the claim, or simply receive a flat fee.  Independent adjusters who aided in recovering losses from Hurricane Katrina were often getting $400 per claim while being able to accomplish 4 – 8 jobs per day.  It is not unreasonable to expect anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 or more, while working as an adjuster in a natural disaster.

Company & Corporate Positions

Many of the biggest insurance companies have extensive claims departments in search of both in-house and field adjusters.  The salary for these positions vary from $40,000 – $65,000 and also include benefits.

Practical Application Training

This week long course provides hands on training in both how to scope a house (investigate the damages) and then how to use the industry standard software – Xactimate – to process the claim to the insurance company.  Claims that are not properly submitted will have to be redone before the adjuster can be paid.  This class gives you the knowledge you need to have your claim accepted and paid quickly and build your reputation as a professional.

We are currently setting up classes in New Orleans.  This location still has thousands of houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina.  We are able to utilize real scenarios to give you real experience.  You will be climbing through real houses with real damage, climbing on roofs, taking correct pictures, measuring, sketching and documenting real claims scenarios.

Class sizes are limited.  We recommend that you team up with a buddy for class and for working as we have found this increases you level of success.
